BEAUTY OF THE WEEK

ELIE MAALOUF

Meet Elie,

ARDELL'S Beauty Of The Week.

He is creative, genuine and dynamic and is sharing
his
beauty secrets with us!

AR: Tell us about yourself?
EL: I am a freelance makeup artist, based out of Los Angeles. I was raised and started my career in Detroit. My passion is to create and discover something new each time I’m doing someone's makeup. I started at a young age but professionally began at a salon after high school.
AR: Describe your earliest beauty memory.
EL:

My earliest beauty memory was being captivated by my mom and aunts wearing makeup looks during the 80s. Frosted Lip and loud blush colors really caught my attention.

AR: Who had the biggest beauty influence on you growing up?
EL: Fashion Models! And Elsa Klensch on CNN during her style segments, Face of Fashion. I used to be fixated on it.
AR: What is something that you no longer believe about beauty that you once did?
EL: I used to believe that there were rules, but now know there are no rules to beauty.

AR: How do you define beauty today?
EL: Beauty today is being an individual. Having your own voice and doing what works for you.
AR: Do you have any favorite beauty practices that you swear by?
EL: A cold water rinse for my face. Or a cooling mask for my clients.

AR: When do you feel most beautiful?
EL: Generally after I workout. I like my whole body to feel balanced.
AR: What’s your go-to makeup or skin care routine?
EL: I’m a minimalist. A good face wash, toning spray, and an SPF moisturizer. A really good facemask depending on if I have blemishes or have been out in the sun is my main add on.
AR: What is your favorite beauty trend right now?
EL: Color!

AR: What is the best beauty tip you’ve ever discovered?
EL: Using the right primer, allows your makeup to last longer. There’s different primers for oily or dry skin, primers with a glow. Find the one that works best for you.
AR: Do you listen to music when you get ready? If so, who is on your playlist?
EL: I always have music on! When I’m working with my clients I bring a speaker to set everywhere. At the moment, Beyoncé and Harry Styles are on repeat
AR: What would someone never guess about you?
EL: When I was younger I learned how to set diamonds and solder jewelry.
AR: What's next for you?
EL: I started doing makeup for television and would love to explore that side of the industry, including film.
