Tell us about yourself.
KQ:
I have been a freelance makeup artist for 10 years and a content creator for 5 years. I also received my bachelors degree in sociology and I am now working as a social work investigator in the Children's Court, where I serve the children in Los Angeles County.
AR:
Describe your earliest beauty memory.
KQ:
My earliest beauty memory was when I was 15 years old and I began cutting out magazine pictures of my favorite makeup looks and visually recreating them, because at the time I was not allowed to wear makeup.

AR:
Who had the biggest beauty influence on you growing up?
KQ:
The biggest beauty influence was Joyce Meyer, she is an older motivational and spiritual speaker. I have heard her ever since I was 15 years old and she spoke about the internal beauty and how it is important to have a rightful character, because who you are is what makes you beautiful. She always spoke about internal beauty versus external and it impacted me and helped me build my character.
AR:
What is something that you no longer believe about beauty that you once did?
KQ:
I no longer believe that having clear skin equals beautiful. The beauty industry is changing and we are finally becoming comfortable in showing our true skin without any filters. I no longer believe in hiding what we call "our flaws," because that very own statement is what makes us beautiful.

How do you define beauty today?
KQ:
Beauty for me is defined as a combination of qualities, such as a smile, a laughter, a stare or the way a person speaks. Beauty is not what media shows, beauty is what you create.
AR:
Do you have any favorite beauty practices that you swear by?
KQ:
One of the beauty hacks I swear by is to apply cream blush after applying pressed powder blush, it makes the blush look skin like.

Is there a moment in your career that you are most proud of?
KQ:
The moment I received a phone call to attend the Latin Grammys and provide my makeup services to one of the biggest Mexican Rock Bands in history. I felt so proud to be entrusted with my makeup services.
AR:
What’s your go-to makeup or skin care routine?
KQ:
My go to skincare routine is eye cream from bareminerals, a lip mask, hydrating serum and hydrating moisturizer and a spf.
AR:
What is the best beauty tip you’ve ever discovered?
KQ:
One of the beauty tips I discovered from a celebrity makeup artist is applying liquid blush on top of your powder blush, it gives it a more natural blush and glow. It looks like you were born with blush.
AR:
What is your favorite beauty trend right now?
KQ:
My favorite beauty trend is using cream based products, It just makes my makeup appear dewy and glowy.
AR:
Do you listen to music when you get ready? If so, who is on your playlist?
KQ:
Oh I definitely listen to music, my poor neighbors. My music playlist varies from, gospel, latin music, pop, country and electric. I usually have some Lauryn Hill, Maddison Ryan Ward, Kirsten Collins or some good electric beats.

In addition to getting glammed up, how do you like to spend your free time?
KQ:
I like to spend my free time journalling with some tunes, or hiking with my dog.
AR:
What would someone never guess about you?
KQ:
Usually people know me as a makeup artist or a content creator, but once I mention my full time career as a social work investigator, usually people react surprised.

What is one of your favorite inspirational quotes?
KQ:
"You cannot live your life just based on what everyone else thinks. Our joy does not have to be based on your circumstances."
AR:
Describe what the perfect "day off" looks like to you.
KQ:
The perfect day off is a picnic at Laguna beach with my dog and best friend, watching the sunset and talking about anything. But usually, my typical but perfect day off is walking my dog around Silverlake or Larchmont with a cup of iced matcha in my hands.
AR:
Do you have any words of advice for others who may want to embark on a beauty career path?
KQ:
Be fearless, bold and authentic. Do not be discouraged of other people's looks or negative opinions. There is no one else like you, there is only one you in this world. Remember to always be humble, be slow to speak and quick to listen. The beauty industry can be intimidating, but being consistent and confident in your creativity will bring determination to continue on this beauty career.

What’s next for you?
KQ:
I am working on writing a book, and hoping to publish it in the next upcoming months.

AR:
What are your favorite ARDELL lash styles? Why?
KQ:
It is so hard to choose a favorite Ardell Lash style since they are all my favorites. But, lately I have been using the textured and the naked ones, specifically the textureyes 584, those are gorgeous. They make your makeup appear glamorous as though I was born with long lashes. They have been my ultimate favorite and even for my clients, they just create a sultry look on the eyes.

What keeps you coming back to ARDELL lashes?
KQ:
How natural they are and how lightweight they feel. I have gotten to the point where I have forgotten I have lashes on that I either end up rubbing my eyes or sleeping with them.
AR:
What is the trick for the perfect ARDELL lash application?
KQ:
Please wait for the glue to get tacky, it just makes the application so much more easier.
AR:
Best ARDELL lash style for an everyday look?
KQ:
OH, definitely the Naked 432 you can just wear them with some minimal makeup and it appears as though you woke up naturally gorgeous. Those lashes are a staple for everyday.
AR:
Best ARDELL lash style for an all-out Glam look
KQ:
Definitely the 3D Faux Mink 864, if you are trying to go all-out glam these are the moment, you will receive endless compliments.
AR:
Mascara on top of ARDELL Lashes or Nah?
KQ:
No, but also out of custom I add mascara because it is a muscle memory at this point, but with the ardell lashes you do not need any mascara.
AR:
What other ARDELL products you use?
KQ:
Every single product, the lashes, the duo glue, the brow gel and their mascara, OH and there pressed on nails of course. Basically give me everything ardell and I will use it all.
